Following our brief Meeting on Wednesday 11th, the Brethren, together with Visitors retired across the short divide to join their wives, partners and friends for the customary Christmas social gathering. 64 sat down in the dining room and 17 in the bar to enjoy the meal they had previously selected, which was superbly prepared and served by Ali and all her staff.
After the meal, those in the bar joined their friends in the dining room to complete the happy evening. Father Christmas once again was kindly disposed to dropping in and he presented all the ladies with scratch cards, and tickets to collect prizes. Diane and Graham Jackson put a lot of time, effort and their own generosity to making this part of the evening so special. A draw was held for a Christmas cake kindly made and gifted by Joan Adams and won by Helen Saunders ( sat next to the W.Master ! ? ) Trevor Morgan led everyone in a selection of Christmas carols and he finished with his rendition of the Christmas song, to applause all round. A most successful evening, smiling faces on leaving was a reward for the effort put in to make it a such success.
